1. How often can I take the Duolingo English Test?
You can take DET up to 03 times in 30 days period. For example, you take your first test on 1 July 2022, and you can take only 02 more tests until 31 July 2022.
2. Can I get a Study Visa/ Permit with a DET certificate?
Yes, you can, but not 100% accurate. Why? DET, IELTS, or TOEFL are just English proficiency tests that you need to get through the admissions process at your chosen university. If you receive a Letter of Offer and then a Letter of Confirmation from your dream university, it means they have tested your English level and confirmed that you are able to study there.
However, your financial status, your study plan, and how you answer questions in your Visa interview are way far more critical. So we strongly suggest you contact your chosen university for confirmation and detailed consultation.
Specifically, suppose you apply for a Study Visa/ Permit in Canada. In that case, you will only need a Duolingo English Test certificate to request a Study Permit if only your chosen university is a designated learning institution (DLI).

3. Why didn’t I get certified?
The Duolingo English Test is accepted worldwide because of its integrity. To maintain integrity, they have to set up several rules that test-takers need to follow strictly. Otherwise, their test results will never be certified.
There are always reasons that you don’t pay attention to, which leads to uncertified results.
When it comes to the English Proficiency element, it is simply not true as all these three tests help universities evaluate your English level to decide whether you are able to study there or not. So, DET is NOT easier than IELTS or TOEFL.
How about their question formats? Some people reckon DET formats are tougher because you have very limited time to answer each question. For example, let’s take a look at the following question.

5. How long are my Duolingo English Test results valid for?

6. May I use more than one email address to complete a test?
You definitely should NOT; if you use more than one email address to take the test, you are violating the rules. So Duolingo has the right to suspend the refund or block your secondary account. If this happens, you need to contact their support team for further assistance.

7. What are the consequences of violating the rules?
If the violation is not serious, your results will not be certified. But if the violation is extremely severe, you may also be permanently banned from taking the Duolingo English Test.
8. Can I purchase a coupon from a third-party seller?
Please don’t do this. Duolingo does not sell any coupons through a third party, so they will not accept them if you use. In other words, you will be losing your money if you buy coupons from a third-party seller.

9. Is the overall score an average of the sub-scores?
It is not; even if computer-algorithm scores your test results, human proctors will review your video recordings to give the most accurate scores. Besides, each of the five scores is estimated independently and scored through the questions that contribute to the score.
10. What happens when the time is out?
You should not worry at all, as when the time is out, your answers will be automatically submitted, and they will show you the following questions.
11. How trusted is the Estimated score to evaluate my proficiency?
